Hey, I’m Rissa Davis

As far back as I can remember, acting has been a part of who I am and offered me a safe place to explore, create and thrive after surviving a traumatic childhood. I’m proud to say that I am the first person to break the generational curse in my family.

Born in Chelsea Projects, I was passed around from Aunt to Aunt to nana and sometimes Mom. From Manhattan to Brooklyn to South Carolina, I grew up in three different worlds with dozens of cousins, never quite feeling a part of. In each household, I had to play a new role.

Chelsea Projects was connected with the Hudson Guild and I was exposed to the theatre for as long I could remember and then finally, at the ripe old age of 10, I hit the stage running, dancing and singing as a gang member in West Side Story. That’s when the acting bug woke up and the gift came alive. I also became a track star and won four state championships. Coach Lempesis believed in me and was the first in a long line of angels who helped pour faith, confidence and endurance into my life.

Then, Life Happened. I got pregnant at a very young age. I was basically on my own, trying to find my way back to acting. I did everything I had to do to get by from Finance, Advertising, Modeling and Motherhood, but I wasn’t firmly rooted in my power and my purpose, until I found my way back to the stage. I can say with full conviction that acting saved my life.

But it wasn’t until I found my soulmate and got married that I finally found my home. My husband is my strength and my backbone.

Fast forward and I am now a multi-award-winning executive producer and actor of The Four Walls of Charlotte Moreland, a film that won 66 awards and was for consideration to be nominated at the Oscar's. I trained at The Identity School of Acting in London and with the late great Tina Sattin and currently study with Susan Batson.

I recently co-produced and starred in Interference, which was selected as a semi-finalist at the 2018 NBCUniversal short film festival and is available to stream on Amazon Prime. I’ve had leading and supporting roles in a dozen indie films and co-starred in the feature, The Eddie Black Story. A proud member of SAG-AFTRA, you may recognize me in a national spot for Special K.

I want to inspire underprivileged and troubled teens to go hard with faith and determination. And know they don’t have to stay stuck. They can make something golden out of any situation. They can choose the light and survive all obstacles, no matter what. Through art, they can feel good and strong and confident and connected in our pain and our passion, telling stories that are raw, messy, truthful and connected.

When I’m not creating, I’m sitting in a dark theater, attending fashion shows, shopping, dancing, trying new restaurants, staying up on the latest trends, getting my hair and nails done (yes, I’m that girl), traveling the world and getting swagged out for fancy event.
